Thursday   TIME

Children need to develop a sense of how long different periods are, e.g. a second, a minute, an hour, a day, and what can be achieved in that time. This plays a crucial part when children estimate time periods and as they grow up will help them plan their time effectively and make decisions regarding their time management.

Here is a list of key words  used to measure time:

seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years.

Why is it important to know the time?

What might happen if we didn’t have clocks and we couldn’t tell the time.                                      How would you know when to get up and when to go to bed?                                                          How would you know when to get up in the morning?

We are learning a quarter past and quarter to times on the clock. Remember there are 60 minutes in an hour, one quarter of this is 15 minutes. Remember a quarter past is 15 minutes after an o’clock time and quarter to is 15 minutes before.
