Our School Council teamed up with the Rights Respecting Team and the ECO Team to deliver a valuable and important whole school assembly to introduce Children’s Mental Health week. The children explained the significance of the week and explained the activities that each class would be completing. They finished the assembly by playing a happy song to make sure each of the children returned to class in a cheerful and relaxed manner. Well done team!
Our school council met with members from the Right’s Respecting team and the ECO team to discuss Children’s Mental Health week which we are celebrating on the week beginning 16th February. Mr Crowley discussed the importance of this week and we explored the different things that we are trying to achieve from celebrating this week as a school collectively. We then rehearsed our assembly that we will be delivering to the rest of the school on Monday 16th to introduce the week. We will be sharing the theme for the week which is ‘This is my place’ with a focus on belonging. We are looking forward to presenting our plans to the rest of the school after a well deserved week off.
School Council 2024-2025
Our School Council worked alongside the Wellbeing team with great care and dedication to deliver a series of mental health and wellbeing talks for our pupils. They focused on helping children to understand their emotions, develop calmness and learn practical ways to self-regulate. Through engaging discussions and thoughtful, activity-based workshops, pupils explored techniques to relax, build confidence and support one another. The team’s gentle approach created a safe, welcoming space where everyone felt heard and valued. Their efforts have made a lasting impact, promoting a culture of kindness, resilience, and emotional awareness that enriches the daily life of our whole school community.
School Council 2023-2024
Our school council showed great initiative in proposing that staff take part in the Belfast City Marathon to raise funds for a new Buddy Bench for our playground. They worked with enthusiasm to develop the idea, presenting it confidently to Mr Kelly and explaining how the project would promote kindness, friendship and wellbeing across our school. The council carefully planned how the funds would be used and designed posters to inspire support from pupils and parents alike. Their creativity and determination turned a simple idea into a meaningful effort that strengthens our sense of community and encourages caring connections among everyone.
School Council 2022-2023
Our school council worked tirelessly to design and create a new staff display board, recognising the many new faces that have joined our growing school community this year. They spent time planning each detail carefully, ensuring the board would be both welcoming and practical. After researching designs, they presented their ideas and pitched them confidently to Mr Kelly, taking on his feedback with enthusiasm. Every photograph and name was thoughtfully placed to celebrate our dedicated staff. Their teamwork, creativity, and commitment have resulted in a beautiful, informative display that helps everyone feel valued and part of our expanding school family.
