    Covid 19 Update

    Dear Parent/Guardian,

We, at St Columban’s, appreciate that this is a time of worry and uncertainty for our whole school community. At all times our pupil’s health and safety is our primary concern.

Currently we are not in the position to close our school until we have been advised to. However,we have decided to use two staff training days planned for May and will remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday to assist teachers in the preparation for the likely long-term closure of schools. We will be required to open on Friday unless otherwise advised by the Department of Education.

Please be assured that we are doing all we can to limit the spread of infection within the school and are following the PHA guidance. We ask that if your child is displaying any symptoms such as a dry cough or temperature they should remain at home.

However, we do appreciate that you may be uncomfortable with sending your child to school, particularly if they or immediate members of your family have underlying health issues. You can be assured we fully support your decision to keep your child at home at this time.

I would ask that you help us to reduce the possible spread of the virus by:

    • Only entering the school if completely necessary via the front door.

To limit the gathering of parents at home time the following arrangements will be in place.

    • P1 collection 1.30pm
    • P2 collection 1.40pm
    • P3 collection 1.50pm
    • P4/5 collection 2.30pm
    • P6/7 collection 2.40pm

If your child attends 123 Club please make the secretary’s office aware so we can arrange their release in relation to their elder siblings finish time.

    • Bus children will exit the school via the main door at 2.45pm

Again, I would like to assure you that the staff are preparing for any closure and I will continue to update you on how we will do this. I would ask again that you access your child’s c2k school and email account as advised earlier.
