World Book Day 2021  To promote a love of reading, there will be a variety of tasks for children to complete throughout the day / week. We would love to see you  getting comfy with your favourite book.

Please email a photo of yourself holding your favourite book in your DEN / Your Book Theatre / Max book activity / book mark or any other task linked to World Book Day.

The Reading Challenge for World Book Week is in the Ebooks Reading folder.

Watch this video for some inspiration on how you can create a special reading space for your child. Collect what you’ll need, build your reading den, then take a photo of your child reading their favourite book inside!

World Book Day 2021: Author & Illustrator Academy: Lydia Monks

HOW TO CREATE A PICTURE BOOK THEATRE WITH LYDIA MONKSWorld Book Day is all about sharing stories - so why not share them in lots of ways?! Lydia Monks shows ...

In the video, Lydia talks about how she takes inspiration from real life animals to draw pictures. She talks about making initial sketches and gradually using them to create the final images in her picture books.

Imagine yourself as your favourite animal – it could be a pet, a wild animal, an insect or a bird!

Draw your favourite animal.

Create your own picture book theatre!

You can use old shoeboxes or pieces of cardboard, like Lydia does in the video, to bring your picture-book scene to life.

It can be any scene, from any book.

This year, World Book Day book tokens have gone digital! Your child’s £1 book token can be swapped for one of the exclusive, new and completely free World Book Day books available from participating bookshops and supermarkets, or it can be used to get £1 off any full price book or audiobook instead. It is advised that the book token is printed out as some bookshops and supermarkets are unable to accept the voucher on a phone or tablet screen. The digital book tokens are valid from Thursday 18th February - Sunday 28th March 2021. Your child can look at the 12 exclusive and new World Book Day books via the link below.
