High Frequency Word Homework Practise

This week we are beginning High Frequency Word Work as part of our homework.

High Frequency Words are words your child will SEE frequently in their reading books.

The ability to READ these words will help increase accuracy and fluency while reading.

The ability to WRITE these words will help when writing simple sentences.

Being able to do both with help children with confidence and independence in

READING & WRITING.

 

This work has been prepared in school and below you will see photos of what to do each night to complete this work which should be returned each Friday along with reading books inside folder.

This is the HF Words writing template. The words will change weekly.

On MONDAY - Write your name and then write the words as a list under MONDAY.

On TUESDAY - Write the words as a list under TUESDAY.

On WEDNESDAY - Write the words as a list under WEDNESDAY.

On THURSDAY - Write the words as a list under THURSDAY and help your child write a simple sentence containing some of the week's HF Words.

Below are some ways you can help your child learn and recall

HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS.

 

*  Write them on a whiteboard

*  Write them on paper and then stick them on the fridge

*  Write them on paper, turn them face down and take turns to choose a word and read it

*  Write the words in the sand at the beach

*  Make the words using coins / pebbles
