We hope you enjoyed seeing all the fun we got up to on our Viking day!
Finally we had a trial in class with Freya and Erik in front of the high court. Erik was accused of letting his sheep eat Freya’s grass and the judges asked Erik to lay the price!
After lunch we had a Viking raid to play dodgeball and used our shields to block the balls just like the Vikings did!
Mrs Jackson kindly took out photos on the greenscreen and they were uploaded with Viking backgrounds. Check us out, don’t we look fierce!
We then split into small groups to go on a scavenger hunt around the school answering questions on Viking comprehensions while the other groups used feathers to write in runes and painted their clay Viking jewellery.
We then investigated what the Vikings used to eat by dissecting Viking poo! We discussed what we could observe and the measured the dimensions of our objects. Finally we looked at the food we could see and we found lots of seeds!
To start our Viking Day we made bread with Mrs Fitzpatrick. We followed her sweet soda recipe and used honey instead of sugar as this is what the Vikings would have done! We all loved it with some of us even having even having thirds. Mr Kelly and Mrs Sloan also approved. Thank you Mrs Fitzpatrick!
We had great fun taking it in turns to play this reading the time game! Ask us to read time to the nearest 5 minutes, I swear we a pros now!
Inspired by our workshop with the council in small groups we made our own posters to remind people to not litter. Check them out next time you are in school!
As part of Ocean Week we had a visit from Newry, Mourne and Down council who spoke to us about the importance of not littering and the impact that plastic can have on our oceans. We had a go at picking up some smelly dog poop, collecting litter with a litter picker and we even got to touch some recycled plastics that had been made into polyester! We promise to not litter and to recycle as much plastic as we can to help to protect ocean life.
We loved having Victoria back in our class this week from the Regeneration Hub. Victoria will be exploring our emotions with us over the next few weeks and today we made rainbows to show what makes us happy 😃
P5 took part in Maths Week Ireland and worked with St.Louis to try our hand at daily challenges!
Viking game!Check out this fun game that will help you to explore Viking life!
P5 enjoyed a Popcorn Party as a reward for earning Class Dojo points! Well done Primary 5!
We had lots of fun making Halloween ghosts 👻 and Viking jewellery from clay today. We looked at photos from a museum in Denmark to model our creations on real artefacts.
